The Blue Haven Food Company (BHFC) originated in 2008 as a start-up business emulating from The Blue Haven Hotel, Kinsale by the innovative use of hotel kitchen facilities during off peak times. Using the expertise and creativity of a team of internationally trained chefs, a premium range of restaurant quality products were developed for retail and food service which has proven to be an astounding success. The awards and commendations achieved are testament to the quality of the products and their perception by consumers.
Our product offering contains our special “Fresh from Kinsale” range which includes our “Signature Seafood” products. The “Signature Seafood” range comprised multi-award winning Seafood Chowder (Great Taste 2010, SHOP 2009), Kinsale Fish Pie (5 star commendation from Irish Times), Smoked Salmon Pate (Blas na h’Eireann Award 2010). Other products include Lasagne, Cottage Pie, Chicken Liver Pate, Tomato & Basil soup and Vegetable Soup, Carrot and Coriander soup, Honey and Mustard Dressing, Tomato Relish, Mixed Berry Jam, Orange Marmalade, Strawberry and Vanilla Jam, Cookies, Flapjacks, Caramel Squares, Loaf Cakes and other bakery products.
Recently the company has moved into new manufacturing facilities in Little Island, Cork. Since occupying the new premises, the company has been able to extend shelf life in it products and also have achieved Fat Free and Low Calorie claims on its Tomato and Basil Soup as well as Gluten Free status on its Seafood Chowder and Kinsale Fish Pie products. These health claims will have a major positive influence on demand for the products and will aid to improve sales and exports through the knowledge-based economic growth.
