Farmgate Café, Cork was established in 1994. It is located in the heart of Ireland's oldest and most historic food market with an industrious exciting view overlooking stalls and fellow traders. Farmgate Café embraces much of what is unique and traditional to Cork along with new influences in this dynamic multicultural food market and port city, thus centuries old traditional, seasonal, regional, even 'forgotten' foods are at the core of the Farmgate Cafe ethos, although sometimes given a more modern twist! Farmgate is a member of Good Food Ireland.

Our food

Farmgate Café embraces a simple, strongly regional and uncomplicated menu, ensuring fresh ingredients. We bake traditional Irish soda bread each morning, as Irish households would have done for many years. At lunch freshly baked savoury tarts and classic dishes such as Shepherd's Pie, Irish Lamb Stew and Fish Pie are served alongside more traditional dishes such as Tripe and Drisheen and Corned Mutton. We serve boiled jacket potatoes (local of course) or delicious ‘roasties’, Colcannon and Champ. 

Our supply chain

Farmgate Café only uses beef, lamb, chicken, eggs and vegetables produced in Ireland.  We place great value on the high quality production systems of our trusted suppliers. We support organic production where possible. We work closely with Market traders and local producers to bring tasty, affordable and nourishing food to the table.

Please note: we are a small business preparing fresh food on a daily basis. We require, therefore, a minimum of 48 hours notice for orders.* 

*Orders available for delivery from Wednesday -Saturday only

*Food purchased should be stored as directed (on label) and consumed within 24 hours of delivery (unless otherwise stated on the product).

* Dietary requirements - please state requirements when placing your order but please remember, although we do our best to accommodate different needs, it may not always be possible to do so.  

*All products are produced in an area where nuts are also used and therefore may be unsuitable for anyone with a nut allergy
